Attention Portfolio Landlords: Section 24 of the Finance (No. 2) Act 2015
Many landlords will be aware that, from the 2017/18 financial year, mortgage interest tax relief on personally owned properties started to be cut back.
This essentially means that, by 2020/21, mortgage interest costs will not be deductible when calculating taxable profit and landlords will only be able to claim tax relief on any interest paid at the basic rate of 20%.
